Been pondering an alternative universe Shackleton where the Manchester wasn't a failure.

Basically a "2 engined" double mamba powered shack.

Where are you going to get the engines from?

With double Mambas, the main problems of the Shack (noise and vibration) would have been solved neatly.

Shakman ? Kit Shakman ? lol Does sound like a great idea ! I've been pondering a twin engine Shak myself, with the original engines.

Hehehe.  ;D ;D

A Double Mamba powered Shack would make sense too, it could fly on only half of each engine when on patrol, and rapidly power up the other halves if need be.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

No real intent for plastic on this one. I'm just planning some basic fudgery of some 3 views. So the mambas will come from a gannet.

I built a twin engined Shackleton using the engines from a Grumman E-2C Hawkeye.
Just changed the name to Carlton. It was an old Frog MR.3 kit. I flattened the nose by cutting the observer/Gunner's position hump and used some plasticard with puty/filer. I also painted over the rear glass tail, then added some of the Hawkeye parts including the rotodome and stand. The colour scheme was  USAF European One.

This 2-view of the proposed Centaurus engined Manchester may be of assistance:
