I'm liking the look of Londons Island in the Indian Ocean as a launch site for a British space program.

There's also a couple of phantom islands near-ish the Falklands (they're probably misidentifications of the actual Falklands) that would interestingly complicate an AU version of 1982's events or any putative future re-run.
