Tracked recreation vehicles

At first I thought the idea of adding catapillar tracks to a car, van/ute or camper van was pure whiffery.
Apparently in the real world this is found on extreme sports or expedition vehicles. Vehicles used for driving over snow or marshy have four sets of track one on each wheel.
It seems that the VW camper van is a common conversion.
Having never driven a tracked vehicle I don't know how good the ride is but in the whiff world this opens the door of variety.
There's a twist as there is an article in December's issue of the magazine Airfix Model World " 1/72 V-1 E75" pages 68-75.
Which should hep in the construction.

Sorry, but what's the AMW article got to do with recreational vehicles? It's about a German WWII 'paper panzer'...

Is this the sort of vehicle you are thinking of?
It would make for some interesting whiffs.

It's the lower hull and track running gear that could be used as a platform for a new upper body.

Okay, fair enough, but you could say that of just about any tank kit, not just this one.

Bear in mind that the style of the E-75, with overlapping road wheels and no return rollers, is pretty distinctively German WWII. When I made a snow cat, I used T-34 running gear, which is much more generic, plus wider Panther tracks to give the impression of the track having extendedtrack pads, which is common in snow vehicles.
