This is almost "not a WHIF", but until a formal announcement that the RAF will have a few F-35As and the Fleet Air Arm will keep all the F-35Bs, the markings on these models will have to remain "aspirational".

One, (with the barn doors open) you may have seen before on this site, but I've modified the markings slightly to add an Integrated Test Force badge (as worn during the recent Flying Trials on HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH). The other has closed intakes and some (slightly) toned down 809 Sqn markings.

Both are Fujimi 1/72 kits, built out the box, hand brushed Humbrol enamel and with a mix of kit and inkjet decals!  FLY (ROYAL) NAVY ;)

Very nice!  Love seeing a little color on an F-35!

Hopefully if they do decide to go with a split buy of A/Bs they increase the B order to at least 60.  Going to be hard to field viable, sustainable Carrier Strike with 48 airframes. An A (or D?) in full color 617 Sqn Centenary markings would look awfully nice a few years down the road...
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Good models!
The title made me dream of a F-35Z Zwilling (like I made a Su-27Z recently), but I understand you are more serious than that ;)

Very nice work, both look great!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Very nice, I've got a couple of those Fujimi kits too, but the open 'suction relief doors' isn't an option. What did you do there as I want to do the same ?

I can't wait for some commem. schemes for the RAF's F-35s when they might put some REAL Red/White/Blue roundels on them.

Those lo-viz RAF roundels look totally appalling!  :banghead: :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Its a real glaring shortfall on an otherwise nice kit.

I hacked them out and created some scratch doors.  Which then required an inlet duct too:

Thanks for that gengriz, I thought for a moment there was an aftermarket part that could be used.

What a lovely pair (ooo-er!)

I did an 809 Sqn Lightning a couple of years ago, (Kittyhawk 1/48) in the more traditional MSG/LAG scheme.  I have another that I'm going to do in RAF colours, but I want to get a C and do that as a full RN aircraft.....
