One of the most difficult things to do when building car kits is getting the finish right. I've had a lot of tough times trying to get things sanded and polished to make my cars look right. I've tried a bunch of stuff and some of it worked, and some of it didn't. I thought it was just me that was having a hard time, but apparently that's not the case.

At our local modelling club, we do presentations once a month on different skill sets. I was asked by the club members if I could do a demonstration on how I do car finishes. I was more than glad to share what I've found out with my fellow club members. The presentation was even recorded for posting online afterwards!

If you would like to check it out and see how I get my Chevettes and Volares looking like I do, please feel free. Any comments, as always, are welcome!

Thanks, man.

I've just been working on some high gloss stuff, and I found out something interesting.

I had glossed a windshield with AquaGloss, by hand. it looked "okay", but it was a bit rougher than I'd have liked. Problem was, the windshield was already in place in the vehicle. Thus, I coudn't easily sand it. Turns out, using some Novus 1 a few times over on both sides really, really helped, without leaving an scratches. So, if you've done a window or a canopy, you don't have to do the full sandpaper regimen, the Novus will do the job for you! Of coruse, that's only one coat of AquaGloss to go over, but I thought I should point it out in case anyone tries and runs into the same thing I did!

Yeah, the Novus stuff is awesome! I use it on my G8's headlights, and on every model car I do.

It's the last step for polishing a car, true, but as you found out, it's great on windows as well. In fact, I don't even gloss windows anymore; I just give them a sand down to about 8K, then Novus 2 and Novus 1.

Glad you managed to get your window rescued, too!
