Martin P-74D Mamba



When the Martin Baker MB-5 entered service with the RAF in 1945, the US Air Force showed a great interest in the aircraft as a possible replacement for the aging P-51 Mustang. The MB-5 showed better performance than the Mustang both in speed and manoeuvrability.



The Martin company in the USA acquired a license to produce the MB-5 for the USAAF as the P-74 Mamba.

Just a comment though, the main gear legs should be sloped more to the front, the wheel axle is in line with the wing leading edge.

And then the lower doors re-aligned to their bottom edge is parallel with the ground too.

The model looks great and the scheme really suits it. A pity it didn't happen for real really.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It looks like the AZ MB-6 kit Jim judging by that canopy, and I had the same problem with the u/c on the one I built not long ago.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Ah! I do believe you are correct Robert. I did not think of that as the MB-6 Ferret is not a kit that I have taken on. I am still battling with their MB-5.
