Most impressive.

But a whole lot of rubbish in the comments below!. Griffons in Mk 9 Spitfires and Lancasters?!  :banghead: :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I didn't see Precious Metal when I went to the races in '96 (I think), but it was an experience to say the least.

They did put Griffons in the Mk.8 though Kit, prototype for what went on to be the Mk.XIV (that's according to the Morgan/Shacklady book)
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !
Where's my beer ?

But then they became Mk XIIs, some with retractable tail wheels and some with fixed ones.

Well actually -- no!  the Mk.XII's evolved from the Mk.IV prototype which was the first Griffon engined Spitfire, the Mk.IV was used to make the first Mk.XII. Also the Mk.XV.
