The British Secretary of State for Defence (don't worry, this ISN'T political) has announced plans to convert second hand ferries and/or cargo vessels to produce multi-purpose Littoral Strike Vessels  that can be used for military or humanitarian purposes.

Looking back over the last few years worth of maritime whiffery on this site, is this a case of reality finally catching up with our forward thinking imaginations?

...........and has anyone got any further vessels to add to our flotilla?

I looked up littoral strike vessel and found that used container ships or oil tankers are high on the list. Sounds like what they need is an amphibious assault ship.

I had something similar happen to my Romanian IAR332 Super Puma, in a rather amusing circumstance. I was unable to procure myself a proper AS330 for my build and went with its slightly larger brethren, this was around summer 2015.

Fast forward to 2017-2018, and the Romanian National Defence Ministry announced the purchase of locally-built Airbus H215's to supplant its aging helicopter fleet. A not so surprising decision, with Airbus expanding its manufacturing there in recent years along with the many decades of licensed Pumas. Some corner of my heart secretly yearns that my build was seen by someone, but that part I'll never be able to corroborate.  ;D
