Bomb girl, 3D Print

After returning the §D printer, I got a new one and so far it works as it should.
This downloaded 3D model conssited of several parts: 3 parts for the bomb, the girl was 10 seperate ones. All was printed seperatly, glues together and then I had to use a bit putty to fill in some gaps.

Printed with an Anycubic Mega S, PLA+, hand painted with Revel Aqua Colour.

My engineer now seems to be used of such models...

The following 3D-Models was used:

That's neat and it's fascinating to see what a 3D printer can do.

As a matter of interest how long did it take to print all the parts for it out ?

The bomb parts took longest, about 3-4 hours each. The torso of the girl also was about 3 hours, the hands for example took 15 minutes.
So, altogether I would think about 20 hours.

Thank you. I knew it was a long process, but not that long.

Took longer than I thought.
But it looks good.  Well done.

My mate Pete, him with the collection of various sized lathes, is well into the 3D printing thing, and he recently printed off a whole R/C model boat, in sections. It was printed vertically, starting at the stern and working forwards, or upwards from the printer's point of view, and each section took maybe 48 HOURS to print!  :o

The whole boat was about 2 feet long so it took around a week to print it all.............

I just wonder at how much that cost ? I know it's all relative, but my inquiring mind has been piqued

I'll ask him, I'll be seeing him at the weekend.

It cost a LOT in time just to learn how to get the printer to work at its best though!

My cousin William downunder is currently printing and assembling a model of HMAS Armidale (ACPB 83) in 1/35 scale - it will be 5' 7'' long when finished

William says it has taken about a month to print the hull so far, and he reckons it will be about twice that to do the superstructure and fittings

It would be faster to scratch build the entire ship! ;D
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

zenrat

But would it be accurate?
I suspect it is possible (and may be what William is doing) to use CAD files of the real thing to produce your 3d printing data.
After all, if you printed your model form the official RAN naval architects datafilee how can any JMN, nit picker or rivet counter possibly criticise it?

Yes, I know, they'll find something...

Hell yes, I can almost hear it now......

'Are those rivets the correct taper? The real ones were a 3 degree taper with the front end at 11 degrees'.  :banghead: :banghead:
