The 152mm SpGH DANA (dělo automobilní nabíjené automaticky) or Samohybná Kanónová Húfnica vzor 77 (ShKH vz. 77) is more directly comparable;

Thread hijack - the Czech DANA

and the South African G6 Rhino were, for a long time, the only two wheeled self-propelled artillery pieces in the world's arsenal.

Now there are several - the French CAESAR ;

the Swedish N1 Archer ;

the Slovakian Zuzana ;

the Serbian NORA B-52 ;

the Israeli ATMOS ;

the Chinese SH-1 ;

and the Russian Bereg A-222 .

That is all.  ;)  Back to your discussion of cab overhang.  I have to say, I think it's a non-issue.  In my ARNG unit I got to drive a beast called a HEMTT 8x8. -> As you can see, the entire cab is forward of the front-most wheels.  That wedge-shaped front end is, I think, mostly for looks.  I never came even close to scraping the ground with it.

Cool. I might use the Italeri HEMTT Tanker as the basis for my truck in my Harrier dio

The Trumpeter DANA is really cool and I was looking at that around the same time I was looking at the Takom G6 Rhino but the G6 Rhino won. It is more sci fi looking for what I want to do. I am adding the Trumpeter JGSDF type 87AW anti aircraft turret to the G6 Rhino. I will be using some metal 6 barrel Vulcan cannons for the guns. I haven't started it yet but I did do a dry fit just to see how the Type 87AW turret looks on the G6 body. The base of the Type 87AW turret is too small to fit on the G6 turret ring so I have to modify one or the other to fit.

Apart from the various katyusha developments.  Or do you not count rockets as artillery?

I realize that to most of the world rockets are artillery.  To me, however,  they're not - not really. They're a niche thing - the red-headed step-children of the artillery family, lumped in because no-one really knew what else to do with them.

I'd have them be completely separate from artillery, 'twere it up to me.  There's no logic to this, really - it's just how I feel.
Artillery = big muckin' guns capable of amazing precision.
Rockets = gun-less area weapons aimed at map squares.

Fair enough.
I would assume modern Katyusha would have some form of homing or guidance system?  Maybe laser guided?

Some are GPS guided too.

So they'll home unerringly on little narrow lanes that aren't wide enough for them to fly along.........  ;D

That's two of us then.

I know what you mean and I feel the same way. A piece of artillery is almost a work of art whilst a rocket is just a tube with some propellent in one end and an explosive charge in the other. I realise that's incredibly simplistic, but it's the way I've always felt for some reason.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
