There are some areas of the IPMS who wish we didn't actually exist I reckon..........

I think that's gradually changing.

Airfix Magazine (June issue) has a What If feature build  Freightdog's Supermarine Type 327, so we are getting there

Ah, but when are they going to print a build article on a whiff kitbash major opus?

The backlash has already begin.  On the flyer for this years Ballarat NNL (to be held 19th May) the Military and Aircraft classes (just the two classes - it is mostly a car and truck model show) are marked "No What Ifs".
I have enquired about this (pointing out the whole point of NNL shows is to avoid this sort of thing) but have been told that someone has complained (presumably about me as no-one else enters whiffs in those two classes) and that this year Darren will be scrutineering and will be checking that all military and aircraft builds are not whiffs.  I am obviously looking forward to testing Darren's previously unsuspected vast knowledge of all things flying and military.

I think even some of the ... "traditionalists", shall we say? ... are getting a bit over umpteen dozen micro-variants of the Bf 109, P-51, Spitfire, PzKpfw IV/V (Panther)/VI (Tiger), M4 (Sherman), etc., & the insane levels of "accuracy" some JMN's are beginning-to-demand/have-been-demanding-for-a-while. So, they're starting to let their minds wander a bit during the rants & "experiment" a bit with the Dark Side.


Fred, how quickly do you think they'd catch on that my Grumman Grebe is a whif?

I doubt they would pick that up until you told them.
I will be taking some of my more subtle whiffs as well as a couple of very obvious ones specifically for rejecting and putting in the "other models" class.
And they will then have to explain why those models have been put in that class.
Ironically this means I will prolly end up taking more aircraft builds than I would otherwise.
