BA do the timewarp

I love the BEA scheme, suits the Airbus down to the ground.  Landor and Negus schemes are good, will cause some head scratching in photos in years to come.

How about this on an A380?  Proportions should scale nicely:

That'd look great.  On the flying boat theme, I'm imagining an A380 all over silver with Imperial Airways titles.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

That just looks like what I think of if I think of a BA 747.

Me as well. She looks stunning

Arrogant and detached is IME a perfect description of BA cabin crew.

I'll tell my mates Mrs that  ;D I do know what you mean though and 30 or more years ago it could of been said about most airline crews, and then the budget airlines came along and it all changed. Nowadays in the UK it's certain train companies refreshment crews who have airs and graces. No names, but they no longer operate the franchise I use the most
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'd love this ancestry BA livery - Northeast is quite exotic, but it would certainly be a colorful eye-catcher:

PR19_Kit

I've got a decal sheet for that NE scheme, it's pretty basic of course, just the fin logo and the titles in black.

Hmmm, I'd be VERY easy to re-print...................  ;)

"Inconceivable!"

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

On Tuesday, there was a news story on Microsoft News that a BA 777 had to divert to St. Johns N.F. because of a fire alarm in the cargo hold had gone off.  The photo of a BA aircraft for the heading picture shows this retro 747 -----   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

TheChronicOne

Yeah, brotha!  :banghead:  A lot of the people at these news agencies aren't exactly "up" on the subject material and either 'don't have the time' or don't try much at all to really research it. Even a mere few minutes' worth would benefit them, however. It's as if they delve into their own internal stock of pre-made generic 'catch-alls' instead of "doing journalism."

 ;D

The Negus scheme is one where you really have to get the exposure and colour temp right, otherwise it looks cold and washed-out.

This nails it thanks to blue skies:

I think that was ultimately one of the problems with the livery; on a Sunny day or above the clouds it looked fab, but on a grey British day it lost its zing and looked fairly bleak.  Whereas the later Landor scheme was more consistent in appearance regardless of lighting.

Another indirect retro scheme - not unpretty!

NARSES2

That does look quite nice

I also have some fond memories of TWA

Another funny/confusing BA find:

This one is subtle, and RW, because it is a Comair B727 which was operated in BA colors in South Africa!

PR19_Kit

Yes, and it looks really good too.

There were only two of them AFAIK, and I tried to spot one of them when I worked down there, but I failed.  :banghead:

Comair also flies 737NGs in BA colours, which the home team never did:

And the 747-8 flew in BA colours on wet-lease from Atlas.  It looked splendid, too.

So the only Boeing jet variants never seen in a BA livery:

707-100
720
727-100
737-100
737Max
747SP
747-300
757-300
767-400
777-200LR/F
777-300 'plain'

Not too many omissions over 50 years*!

I quite fancy a WHIF 757-300 on a Shuttle run to Belfast.  Or a 747SP in BOAC livery, can't quite make the dates work for that though.

* I omitted the 717 because that's really an MD-95

AS.12

Oh my!  I wonder if they ever did a mock-up:

QuoteAnother prime 747SP customer prospect, in addition to Pan American World Airways. is Japan Air Lines. which is looking for an aircraft to replace its McDonnell Douglas DC-8 fleet. Other potential customers are Trans World Airlines. BOAC, Air France, Air Canada, El Al and Qantas.

TheChronicOne

Aer Lingus just made one. This looks damn good if you ask me.

I wish the airlines would get back to liveries instead of painted tail, bunch of white, name, and curvy line junk.
