Sorry for tooting my own horn, but I've been compiling a listing of fictional warships from novels, short stories & comic books (With occasional help from others). The format is one entry per individual story. There are a few interesting variants on historic vessels contained in the list, crying out for modelling. For example check out the entries for authors, John Watson,  J. E. MacDonnell and Douglas Reeman (especially the 1960s set 'The Deep Silence')
