Many thanks for the thought, my friend - but I thought I'd have a go at using plastic plates for the wing.  I still have a bunch of those from the "Plates in Space" Challenge I put out on StarShipModeler.  Not knowing what I would build, I just bought a bunch of plate-shapes from the Dollar Store.  In the end, of course, I used something else so I still have most of the plates.
