It's a retouched pic - somewhere I have a copy of the original, minus rocket flames!

Did XA847 actually have it fitted? It looks like the whole pack is re-touched (don't worry its on the list near the top, already printed some decals for the XA847 codes in fact!).

Would that be this pic?
Lovely shot it is indeed.

That's the one Alun, but I didn't know it was a re-touched photo.  Damien's comment would suggest it was fitted but not used, is that right Damien ?

Would Trumpeter's kit of the Lightning F.1 for conversion to a P.1B?

Better off buying the Whirlybird Lightning P1B.  Not only is it bang on, the belly pack is separate and has the correct fin.  Okay, the kit is a few bob more than Trumpeter's abortion of a Lightning but the latter will cost the same once you've bought the bits needed to sort it out.  And that's IF you can get the Aeroclub back end, given that Aeroclub products are now rarer than rocking horse dung.

I wouldn't give the Trumpeter Lightning house room - the two I did have were sold off at a loss.

October's Aeroplane magazine has a large, multi-article feature on the SR.53 and SR.177. Well worth a read.
