Paint can openers

Those little Humbrol (Xtracolor/Revell/Phoenix/etc) paint tinlets are tricky to open, aren't they? Especially when the paint has dried up around the edges and you can't get enough leverage.

I went into my local Homebase today and they are selling proper Paint Can Openers dirt cheap at 20p. I didn't know they existed! https://www.homebase.co.uk/paint-partner-paint-can-opener_p484167

Bought one and tried it this afternoon and it is better than the old screwdriver I use. The end is curved so you get a good lever action, the tip sits under the lid tightly and it doesn't slip or fly off. No fear of bending the lid either.

P.S. If you can't get to a Homebase I can always pick up a few more and pass them on at shows.

They were giving those out for free around here when buying house paint a while ago.

i normaly use the tip of my scissors or a small flathead screwdriver

Just happened to be close to my nearest Homebase this morning and got two of these. One for the modelling area, and one for the paint store in the garage.

I'm still using a very elderly teaspoon (handle  end)

I tend to use whatevers closest, screwdriver, spoon, back of a dinner knife, scissors.  I used to have a proper one for big tins of decorating paint from my first job working in a paint lab, but it was no good for Humbrol tinlets.

So do I in the main but am thinking of using my vast collection of Humbrol enamels for detail work as their acrylic pots are driving me mad
