Was listening to Dermot O'Leary (who turns out to be a huge Spitfire fan) on Radio 2 this morning and he had a long chat with one of the pilots of this beauty.

Woohoo, she's scheduled for a four night stop-over at Paine Field here in Everett,
starting 31/08/2019.

Sector 26 KPAE Snohomish County (Paine Field) USA 31/08/2019 4 nights

Paine is 10 miles from where I sit and we're under the pattern, mebbe I'll see
her over the house. I'll definitely head down to the field.

The 'Silver Spirfire' got back yesterday, after a four month circuit of the Earth.

However, the media have acted as ignorant as they usually are in such cases, TWICE reporting the aircraft as '.....a 1944 vintage jet......'

Sometimes I REALLY want to physically knock some sense into their heads!

In defence of some sections of the media today's I newspaper had quite a lengthy report on the flight and a short history of the aircraft it'self, including her war service. And yes the word jet was not used.
