Another quick build using the old Airfix 1/72 kit and the Blue Rider decal set. Didn't come out anywhere near as good as the Khemedi Spitfire, but it looks enough like the book illustration to work for me.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Nice job with an old kit.

Particularly like the colour scheme.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks quite good.  Do you have any WIP pics? I'd like to see what changes and modifications were made.
Thanks!

Thanks, all.

Very few progress pics, I'm afraid. The only useful ones are probably these two:

Filling of the exhaust manifold insertion slots:

I really would recommend very strongly that you go with the Hart kit if at all possible. This old Airfix is a dog of a kit with ejector pin marks to fill and locating holes for the struts that you could drive a truck through. And besides which, it's not the right aircraft for the illustrations.

Hmmm... good work.  Your words say one thing, but the results say something else... ;)

I'll take a look around for the Hart kit, but the fact that the Demon is cheaper and on the shelf may win out.  Also, you can ask around, I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment. :)
Thanks!

Ah, righto. Sorry, I think I missed the part about already having the kit. In that case, go to it!

A few details that might help then:
- Exhaust holes were 2mm apart (between centres) from memory
- Scratchbuild a windscreen
- Underside should be grey or silver if you look at the illustrations (ignore the Blue Rider description of all over green - it's wrong)
- Replace the axle with a plain rod, not the airfoil section of the kit (I had to by necessity after losing the kit part to the carpet monster, then discovered it was wrong anyway, so that was a win)
- If I built this again in less of a rush I'd probably re-make or modify the undercarriage struts to remove the big ring typical of these old Airfix kits.

I'd also suggest you'll want to modify that rear gun ring so it's flat and level with the front coaming.

None of the above is too onerous and from what I've seen of your work on your blog you clearly have the skills to handle any of this with ease. Had I not blitzed this kit, I probably would have modified the gun ring too.
