NORTHROP N-156 (early)

In the early 1950s Northrop was one of the companies seeking to develop a lighter, more affordable combat aircraft than the increasingly expensive mainstream projects of the time. Many different configurations were tried under the model number N-156, in the real world eventually resulting in the F-5 series.
An early version was aimed at navies wishing to keep their escort or light carriers. I have liked the look of this since seeing plans in Tony Butler's "American Secret Projects, Fighters & Interceptors 1945-1978" p.186. Although at that time it was intended to house missiles in wingtip pods, I think that it would have used standard Sidewinder rails and kept 2x20mm cannon.
One day I shall build a model, but in the meantime foramusement and inspiration here is a profile:
