Not sure how authoritative this page is, but it certainly seems well researched. And it seems to bring good news for us whiffers; things were rather unconventional, therefore we can pretty well write up anything into the backstory!  ;D

In the seven volumes of Aircraft of the Fighting Powers I have, a few of them have a page which is of colour chips of all the camouflage colours used by the RAF/RN. Which is unusual because all the rest of the book's contents are in black & white.
