I'm starting to have an Idea for the Saab Draken. I'm imagining a variant it to be a Stealth Fighter with twin tails, and similar apperances to the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II. What do you guys say about that?

I'd be interested to see it.
- The engine intakes make or break a Draken for me. What are you going to do about those.
- For stealth, you should have stealth stores too. That seems to mean internal storage. There's no available space for that in a normal Draken. Something more elaborate is needed.

Honestly... IMHO, i don't think it makes much sense cause it was designed as an interceptor so there's barely enough room for fuel inside the fuselage so the airframe would have to be considerably enlarged to make room for internal weapons carriage.
Why not just go with a modified/modernized variant and forget stealth? Stealth designs are drawn with all these factors in mind so in order to make it a real stealth aircraft, the whole thing would have to be heavily modified.
Even if it had external stealthy weapons pods, it still wouldn't be a real stealthy bird, it would just have a reduced RCS but it could never be called a stealth fighter... unless it only used the cannon for combat.
Just my 2 cents, anyway...

;D ;D Don't think that would be too stealthy but it does look cool.

Ah!  The Anime version!  :)

There's no reason the entire aircraft couldn't be enlarged by say, 20% over-all to give extra interior space for things like stealth storage.

I was thinking, though - how long until we have AmazonPrime missiles - you push the "Order Now" button on the stick, and the missile instantly appears and launches.  ;)

Where am I going?  And why am I in a handbasket?

Yup, the whole airframe would need considerable modifications, besides being enlarged, it would need new intakes, exhaust section, canopy, nose profile, access panels with hidden joints and no straight angles. There's a lot that goes into a stealth design, that's why aircraft companies didn't just adapt an old airframe for test purposes and built new designs with these requirements included.

Apart from that it'd just be a standard Draken................................  ;D ;D ;) ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's quite odd really but back in the day when the Draken first appeared it was considered as quite a futuristic design by us youngsters, not stealth as the terminology hadn't been invented, but we knew what we meant  ;)

Now of course we understand these things better.......don't we ?
