Ive just had the email confirming that the 2021 Scots Nationals have been cancelled. I dont think I need to say why.

QuoteIt is with deep regret that it has been decided that SNSMS 2021 will not go ahead.  This was a very difficult decision to make on a number of levels.  A formal notification will be issued in due course.

We believe that even if ScotGov were to have a change of heart re large gatherings too few of the likely attendees will have been vaccinated in time for our usual April show to ensure that we can hold it safely.

Consideration had been given to putting it off until later in the year, however it was decided that would not be suitable either.  Firstly, it was thought to be unfair to those clubs and organisations who would normally hold their shows later in the year to "muscle in" on their "territory", assuming they are able to hold their shows..  Secondly, it is possible that if a large number of clubs and organisations were to try to have shows in a short period at the end of the year it would create a logjam of shows, this would not be any use to anyone.  Thirdly, if this situation was to happen traders might not want to travel any distance as their costs might outweigh their income, especially if they had shows closer to home.

I should be obliged if you could pass this information on to your members, and to any other interested parties.  Also I would add my usual proviso that if I have missed anyone off the list or that you are no longer the point of contact for your group that you pass this on to the relevant person/people.

Thanks.

Neil Whyte.

I'm hopeful we get to have a Model Expo in Melbourne this year.  Time alone will tell.

And in Adelaide...

I had time, finances and transport available last year to go to one or even both so of course they didn't happen, I won't have time or finances this year so they may just happen...
