The H2S system looked forward, down and all around really. It 'mapped' the area over which the aircraft was flying so the Nav could work out exactly where they were, and the Bomb Aimer could set up his Initial Point properly.

Most of the WWII bombers, and the Lincoln later on, couldn't have a big radar in the nose as they needed that for the Bomb Aimer and the forward turret. The V bombers used H2S Mk IX radar, essentially the same system but on a different frequency and with added gizmos, but they could carry them in the nose as they didn't have optical Bomb Aimers or turrets.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I see, the Kittleton will be a late ww2 design, so will  have an early radar and  a bombardier to keep it within  the timeline I am  putting it in. I could put something  where the retracting  dome goes as long as it isn't too close to the ground  i suppose. It will have a chin or forward fuselage turret  similar to that of the B-17, but a bit more streamlined  the window in the front  lower fuselage  could be used for the bombardier  so I won't  blank that off. I will start  cutting plastic when I have finished the  T.188 I  think.

Work has started  on this project, first job  is to remove  the rivets.  I  am using  a chisel  blade to skim them off, it will make sanding  a lot easier . The plastic on the fuselage  feels quite  hard so the dremel  could be  coming out to play.
