Seen here, about to land in Berlin, the latest from Lufthansa. Using the new Agfa Experimental 100ASA colour film, soon to be used at the Olympic Games shows the world that we Germans lead the field once again.

Model: Revell 1/144 Junkers G-38
Prop wash: Adobe

You know something?
While sitting here forever amazed at your CGI abilities, I have to keep reminding myself that: "on top of doing such a great job altering the pics, this fellow first has to build the superb models IN the pics, too!"

Great job.  Love the cover story.  Is that bit legit?

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

I donnot read English fine enough to be sure  : do the words above mean "instead of building models than fake flying photographs from them, why not create all by computer without even model? And just go away from this site, deserved to (what-if but) pure modellers." :(  :(

These words would make me feel uncomfortable, as I may have followed or even created a bad direction. Waiting to organize my new work-bench for models in my new house (June 2005?), I have created fake pictures without building plastic objects. This is just a temporary state. Of course models on a shelf or diorama are fine by their own, the new possibilities from computer create an addition, not replacing our favourite hobby. This is my opinion, at least. I apologize.

I see things as:
- what-if modellers, being rejected by JMNs, have learnt tolerance and acceptance of the 'different ways' to love aircraft or other machines
- Deino and Overscan, showing unbuilt projects, provide great ideas for scatch-builders of virtual-planes unbuilt in factories
- GlennLyn and Matrixone, doing a great picture work on their models with computer give the most "real-like" Historical aspect of models, while my pacific-naive-way removed propellers/tailplanes/swastikas trying to be the least "real-like".
So, there are just different ways, each one of us has personal reasons and goal-in-modeling. None is bad, I hope.

Maybe these words are a little stupid, sorry :( , I may have misunderstood a simple joke... :)

No, JHM is saying that Glenn first built a great model, then made a great photo of it. Both are accomplishments on their own; combining them is even harder and deserves

Beautifull job, both the model and the prop wash in the picture

Great model and suits the code APIS - reminds me of some kind of flying insect
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Gary

Love the model and the effects. Great job Glenn.

And Ya know, like you Troph, I love all the aspects here, from the finished models, to the concept drawings, the discussions, the computer generated and altered stuff. This site is fantastic and welcoming to all and a credit to the members who participate with it.

And I think Bazz would rather eat a mountain of his own poo before he'd say anything mean on this site.
Getting back into modeling

Looking good, Lyn ! looks like some kind of giant moth, eh ?

And that was nothing but compliment, Tophe.....a great model on it's own, and even better looking in a realistic photo !

Yes, Lyn's G-38 is a million times better than what usual people can do trying to invent a G-38 in the sky (see below). Congratulations once more, Lyn, you are great!

Quotea G-38 in the sky
a G-38 on the ground is a possible way for realism too - below: one diorama for our MatrixOne expert, able to do better I guess... :)

Chief,
I kind of 'had a play with the dates', as the G-38 actually flew in the late 1920's, (1928) and the Berlin Olympics was in 1936.
As to the Agfa colour film, the Germans were using it during the early Nazi rallies (1933~1936)
Oh, by the way, I forget to mention, originally the model was hand held, and I removed my hand, and added the wing tip, 'D' and sky with Adobe.
Lyn

Captain Canada

Yes, that is a great looking ground shot as well, Tophe...thanks !

Big bird, eh ?

Thanks a lot for those details. Iwas far from imagining such a huge amount of work... I just thought the model was hold in front of the sky with a thread, rather easy to remove with Photoshop, and I thought the main work was creating the moving propellers...
If there was a hand hiding part of the model to remove (and most of all: to replace by model parts, continued), the background to change all, this is simply terrific. Double congratulations, again and again, Lyn. And thanks for your explanations, helping us to dream doing half as good, in some far future... :)
