Inspired by the  Dakota Gunship  thread , I think the Privateer would have made a good gunship  for ground attack

With all its turrets locked left or right  and using the space for the mid ship bubble is for a heavier weapon

It could have put out a fairly heavy barrage

I'm not sure that the high-aspect ratio, relatively fragile and optimized for
high altitude flight Davis wing would be suited to a low-level, relatively slow
orbiting flight regime. Especially as the stall speed is around 30 knots higher
than that of a DC-3/C-47. None of which made too much of a difference in
the patrol-bomber role, but could all be critical issues in a gunship role.

Privateers were used as flareships in Korea, working with USMC Tigercats.
Whatever.
