Great build and story! Love the worn away white paint. Did you paint white and then rub off sections or is it all airbrush work?

I used the "hairspray" weathering method, which I'm really starting to like for heavy weathering.  I painted a base blue along with some areas of zinc chromate and some silver. Then seal with clear coat, then a mist of hairspray on areas that will be worn away (in this case the whole thing).  Once it dries I airbrushed the white coat and the with a stiff wet paintbrush rub the white away from the worn areas.  The hairspray is water soluble so the paint comes right off.  In my experience trying it if you do the weathering soon after painting you get more of the worn off effect like I did here, while waiting for the paint to cure longer take or effort and is good for chipping effects with a toothpick.

Hope this makes some kind of sense.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

That's a great description. I'll have to save that.
