The VDM30, made by Vulkan Defence Manufacturing, saw widespread use by the Terran Federation.

Basically, it's a Federation officers pistol from the BBC SF series Blake's 7.  I've had it for a few years now and threw it together a few weeks back.  Looks very good in the cabinet next to the standard rifle and the later version from series 4.

Not my photos, these are from the manufacturer.

Rifle - fandom calls it the paragun, which I think sounds poo-poo (with an english accent).  I call it the VDM9.

And the other one.  This was only seen the once, in the Season 4 episode "Games"  I've dubbed this one the VDM11

They do look rather green here, whereas the ones sitting in the cabinet are the correct colour.  Vauxhall 463 Hazel Brown metallic is correct for Federation gun metal.

They do a load of other props and bits to tempt the SF minded.  I'm very tempted with the mini ORAC.

Ive have a few conversations with those guys at the Small space sci fi show. Seem like decent people
I always hope for the best.

experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Nice.

If that's the company I think it is, then I've looked longingly at their Space 1999 stuff a few times, especially the comlink.

They sometimes sell off rejected-but-not-unsavable castings at quite reasonable prices.

Some brilliant stuff on that website.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

The thing that appears to be the front sight on the "rifle" looks like it wouldn't last long in any kind of use.

I had to check out when Blake's 7 was on t.v.  (78/81). Firstly I could have sworn it was earlier and ran for longer, but hey, that's memory for you. Secondly I never realised there was such a fan base out there for it until talking with Lee at shows etc.

I can remember Glynis Barber very well though
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Wasn't she 'Makepeace' at one time?

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yes.  She married her co star and they're still together.

Shameless plug for friends of mine who run sci-fi events.  They're running an online event in January for the 40th anniversary of Blake's 7.

They run similar events, (usually in person) on a regular basis.  There also running another event in February to cover the 50th anniversary of the first appearance of The Master in Doctor Who.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Very nice, great blast (pun intended  ;D) from the past
