There's a couple of those ex-ROC posts on the market at the moment, one in Cornwall and one in Norfolk, nr. Brundall, a place I  know well.

They're both priced at around £35000.00 but there's not a lot of room in there!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The one thing in their favour is that the temperature in the "Living Space" is fairly constant throughout the year, On the downside that temperature from memory is about 50F [10c].Nice and cool on a hot summers day, but after a while you needed your woolie pullie! Add in no mains water, gas or electric and you are definitely off the grid. Good as wine cellar perhaps ;D

Nick

A friend had one down in Kent and let me in there one time before he had to sell it to pay for his divorce. He had restored it to look like it was when opened in 1960. It had a phone line and power from a generator as they all did. The cost was too high for him to add in a mains power line though I have heard of some where enterprising ROC staff managed it. These days it wouldn't be hard to set up a wind turbine to keep the batteries charged.

Cramped is scarcely the word. Enough room for bunk beds and a desk, plus a chemical toilet in one alcove next to the vertical ladder.
