Repainting diecast aircraft

If no one has any objections to the repainting of diecast aircraft,  then this could be another medium to create a whiff by adding new decals.
The 1/72 scale is expensive but it seems that the smaller scales are a lot cheaper depending on the aircraft or popularity. Most come with stands but some come with the landing gear and weapon options.  In some cases pilots are included.
In many cases turning the toy into a model would be a challenge as you can use resin conversion sets or plastic parts, at least the problem of tail sitting would be solved.
Not only aircraft but tanks and ships would be ideal if you were working with a budget.
Can't wait until the car boot sales start,  there's usually the odd bargain to be found.

I did this with one of the Giant Warplanes B-52s.
It worked fine, the only problem I had was cutting the notch out of the metal wing. (Wish they'd made the whole thing in plastic, but wasn't to be.)

The several 1/32 diecast cars I have ion the stash are earmarked for conversion in a similar way. The only problem I will have is recreating the transfers they used for the badges...

Go for it!

You might check out Youtube. There are a number of video's of people restoring old die cast toys. They could give you some hints on working with die cast models.
We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.
