Various 'modern ' cars have taken their inspiration from cars of yesteryear, so the idea of using plastic model scale kits and creating a "homage to " appeals me.
Take the Chrysler PT Cruiser,  when looked at in several angles this reminds me of the Morris 1000 Traveller. Even Chrysler created a PT Cruiser with wooden panels but that never went into production,  there was a two door convertible and even some owners converted theirs into panel vans.
Changes to the front and rear tail lights,  with a bonnet/hood fitting in the centre and the wooden/fake wood rear could create something along the lines of the 'Moggy ' with adjustments to the dashboard.
The hubcaps will need changing as well or removed,  if all goes well other projects will follow.

Here's one idea:

I will be taking a few cues from there and combining them with this one for the grille and bumper locations:

Though I may yet decide to go with a taller, square-ish grille and have the bumper split to either side.
