Nice to see an IP kit of this obscure aircraft - a bit pricey, though.  :-\

Maybe there's an A2J in the pipeline, too?

We should be so lucky!!  I'd buy a couple at least.  Be fun to do a whif A2J-2 with swept wings and turbojets.

Quote from: Mossie on August 30, 2022, 06:33:46 AMUnlikely to at the price, but if I bought one, it'd be a real world water bomber.  It's often surprising, some of the eclectic types that have been converted for firefighting.

Very much so Mossie.

Some of the water bomber conversions are indeed surprising: Grumman Guardian, the F-15 Reporter which was the recce version of the Black Widow, the Mars, Privateer, Tigercat, and the Savage. All were rare/eclectic to start with and we likely would not have any Mars or Guardian survivors without their firefighting careers.  Believe the sole Savage survivor was an engine test bed, shame to see it rot on the Pensacola museum ramp for decades.

If memory serves me correctly, that one was a testbed for Avco Lycoming in ALF-502 development, the test engine being extended from the bomb bay for testing.  If one could find photos, that would be interesting to modle.

There are quite a few scattered around the net if you Google "AJ Savage aircraft testbed".

From the little I know, the testbed was a AJ-1.  It'd be a fairly involved conversion to do an AJ-2, the way the is done it'll need a different fuselage part.

The more I look into the Savage, the more I'm impressed with it, basically a "minimum bomber", big bomb bay in a relatively small package, even though it was a bit of a monster for a carrier aircraft.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I know what you mean Mossie, it's always impressed me.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Apparently, Roden is looking for a box art artist.

http://roden.eu/HTML/framenews.html

"Hello everyone, I am here to ask if anyone is capable of beautiful aircraft art (as in the beautiful images on model boxtops).? In a stroke of very bad luck, I have to let you know that RODEN models primary artist Taras Shtyk, just passed away at age 63 of heart failure. That leaves RODEN with no boxtop artist as their other was killed in a rocket attack early in the war in Ukraine. This is a very serious situation for this company and they need to find an artist quickly. Please contact me and I will put you in touch with the proper folks at RODEN. Thank you for your attention, Marc."

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You've gotta feel sorry for those poor buggers..that does suck indeed.
