Background story
With the tension in South China Sea increasing rapidly, the RMAF (TUDM) Royal Malaysian Air Force has an urgent need to modernize their maritime patrol assets and cut down the training and transition time. Since it is operating the F/A-18D, the F/A-18F has become the natural extension to the modernization program.
