The cost of upgrading AFVs is usually prohibitive, unless there are no alternatives available.

I know   , grabbing the Leopard 2 and I skip the integration problem, but I was motivated by the asthetics and inspired by the T-55M6, and the Leopard 2 turret ring diametre is 100mm bigger than that of the Centurion......

...... guess I'll go back to the TTD turret derivative after all...... it was advertised as suitable for Centurion upgrade, so I suppose the engineering problem was already looked at, and there is (theoretically) no stopping anyone from up-armouring it to look like a Leopard 2A5...... like the T21 turret to Leclerc.

Well that's the next best thing after all.  

I've actually heard that TTD, being a technology demonstrator after all, is made of mild steel for armours although I don't know how much truth there is to it (and even if it's true, production turret would have used proper armours anyway).

And then there's always the possibility of addon armours......

There was a projected StuH-type vehicle with shortened hull (5 wheel stations), backward-facing casemate (a la Archer) and 25 pounder armament, I believe.

There's a really good book on the Centurion out; can't remember who by, but I think the same fella has written one on the Saladin/Saracen family, also.

I suppose I would do something quick-and-dirty about it one day...... the turret comes from a TTD drawing whereas the hull is that of a Sho't.

Well considering the drawing being quick-and-dirty......

(You wouldn't mean that both the Sho't hull and the Leopard 2A5 turret have their own shot traps to begin with, would you?  Anyway, I didn't bother perfecting the arrangement or making sure that the respective components are fully-equipped, just cut-and-pasted the drawings )

Hum...... Leopard 2 does seem to have such a cut out under the turret face, too......  But what's that cut out for?

I'm referring to the sharp re-entrant angles between hull and turret front.  Any round entering it will tend to be deflected either into the lower turret or the upper hull glacis.  Worst possible outcome would be for it to be deflected into the turret ring.   This possibility is made even worse in a hull down position, where the lower turret front becomes closer to the vertical.
