A challenge to you talented 'What If' Profile artist :o

I am in long want and ore of what I call the Northrop F-20E/F Tigershark

I envisage it being a natural progression process of the Northrop F-20A/B Tigershark (as the F-16A and F/A-18A has progressed with operational experience!)

What I am looking for is:
- Larger area wing
- A more refined 'bubble canopy' - for superior all round visibility!
- Conformal tanks - for better range, whilst freeing up hardpoints for weapons.

Thank you in advance for if you elect to take up this challenge

That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Question: Other than aesthetics, what good would a larger wing do? The F-20 was already more maneuverable than just about anything else in the sky at the time save the X-29; so much so that it killed two pilots from g-induced loss-of-consciousness.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

The wing has been one of the criticisms of the F-20.  Like Jim mentions, more about payload & range than maneouverability although I think would have allowed a greater sustained turn.  IIRC there were some studies done but Northrop was reluctant to incorporate it as it meant more testing & higher cost narrowing it's advantage over the F-16.  Moot point in the end.

There's a Secret Projects thread on the Big Wing Tiger Shark:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks gents for your interest ;D
Yeah as Mossie has stated, I have tried to find out the answer to the need/want of a larger wing.

As remarked -
Quotethe issue of incorporating a much more powerful General Electric F404 turbofan engine - which significantly improved thrust (and thrust-to-weight ratio), but failed to incorporate a greater wing area to complement this boast in power.

Add to this as stated by F-14D on Secret Projects Forum

QuoteThe benefits were more weapons flexibility and greater sustained turn, among others

For what the CFTs could look like, have a look at what the Brazilians did for their F-5s. CLICK!

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Thanks ChernayaAkula
That is what I am talking about!!
Although it looks a little squarish across the top....if you know what I mean. Couldn't it conform more in terms of shaping with the contours of the fuselage and intake duct

Thanks for your input my friend

So have we any takers on drawing this baby
