The UK MOD have announced the start of the competition to replace the Puma in RAF service, with the plan of announcing the contract next year.  The initial proposal released calls for 36-44 airframes.  This is to replace 24 Puma as well as 13 total other airframes (Bell 212, 412, Dauphin).  If my calculations are correct this comes to 37 airframes.  It's very unlike the MOD to increase the numbers of anything so the upper limit of 44 sounds encouraging.  Perhaps a handful could be earmarked for the RN to act as Planeguard/general utility helicopters with the carrier air wing to ease the burden on the already stretched Merlin fleet?

Anyone make a good kit of either the 149 or 175?  I have a hankering to see one in RN colours about QLZ or PoW.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
