Well until Sir Peter built his squadron of replicas for the film we may never see we've only had the one Lanc so I think it's safe to presume it was MOTAT and, in that case, the P-40 you sat in was NZ3009. This was restored to fly in 1997 and remains airworthy to this day, albeit chained up due to legal issues. MOTAT got NZ3039 to replace it.

Ahhh ha..nice info matey  it will really nail Guys memory now cause he'll now have the rego of the plane he sat in..I've never sat in anything other than the Lanc..went thru that thing like you wouldnt believe..i sat in every seat i could find in that Lanc 
Oh ive found a P40 for a good price and in 48th scale..an academy P40 from Bay Hobbies in Tauranga ..ill get that this week ..cant complain for $37 bucks.
Now i gotta find the Lancaster parts ill need .
I did buy something last week ive been wanting for yrs but kept forgetting about..i got a Tamiya razor saw and the P40 will probably be the frist model i cut with it
