Could the new QE handle a Hawkeye?  Would be a good asset for them.

Bigger than the CdG so plenty big enough.  Of course there is the slight issue of how to fling it off the deck and stop it when it lands...if they had stayed the course in 2010 with the switch to CATOBAR there's little doubt they RN would have a few.

Starting to look like the RN's next AEW (after Crowsnest Merlins) WILL be catapult launched but it'll be a UAV.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

When the RAF tried to take over British air power by moving Australia on the map in order to prove it could reach anywhere in the world.  Thankfully for the FAA, this ploy was seen through, but unfortunately the CVA carriers had already been cancelled.  As compensation, to replace the ageing Eagle and Ark Royal, two ex USN Kittyhawk carriers were purchased.  When they were received they were devoid of any equipment necessary for operation, so the Ark and Eagle were stripped and their radars and self defence systems added.
Some of the Royal Navy's aircraft were aging, namely the Gannet AEW, so a deal was made to replace, amongst others, the Gannet with US built E-2 Hawkeyes.

Italeri/Kinetic 1/48 kit.  Despite following the instructions and adding 50g (or more) nose weight, it was still a tail-sitter. I found out it still needed another 40g to make it sit properly, which I couldn't fit after the event, so it has a stand under the rear.

E-2B was seriously considered to Replace Gannet AEW3 on Ark Royal and Eagle to work with the Phantoms, but with the cancellation of the Eagle refit, and Ark Royal only expected to serve till 1975 they opted to carry on with Gannet and the RAF would replace them with Shackleton using Gannet Radar whilst they developed the AEW Nimrod.

Nice build, i suspect the nose weight is possibly set fo when the wings are unfolded, with the rotodome and the majority of the wings aft of the main gear its going to struggle.
Project Cancelled SIG Secretary, specialising in post war British RN warships, RN and RAF aircraft projects. Also USN and Russian warships

Interesting. I didn't know that!

As for the noseweight, even without the wings fitted, just the rotodome, it tail-sits.  With the wings but not the dome, it sits properly.  Obviously with both it's going to be bad, but to say it needs 50g, and then to find out it needs an extra 40g!
