l would live to see this on a non-whif table at a model show. Watching people trying to figure it out would be priceless.

The French Escadron de Chasse 2/30 Normandie-Niemen flew on the Eastern Front and they had a Yak-6 transport. My somewhat weak backstory is that they they brought back plans (or few examples) to France to help restart the French aircraft industry. Since the Hs-129 used French engines, it seemed like an almost plausible back story.

Nice job on that model!

IRL they brought back their Yak fighters (a tradition carried forward from the original horse-mounted regiment), so why not a few transport aircraft too?

I thought your story held water - never yet knew a squadron that didn't need a "hack"/light transport for communication purposes.  I think Rick has the right slant on it.  I read somewhere that given their choice of any fighter extent at the end of WWII the Normandie-Niemen  Groupe de Chasse chose the Yak.

Absolutely  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
