Got one delivered today. The plan is to do a US Navy in-service variant, with changes. The big jobs will be canopy/cockpit area, and beefed up landing gear for carrier operations. The internal and mostly unseen change will be the reversing of the powerplant arrangement, with rocket boost moved into the area occupied by the anemic Westinghouse engine (I mean, Westinghouse, how would it not be anemic? ;D) and a more powerful jet in place of the rocket. Pitot tube will be moved to a wing, dithering over whether to have a folded wing or just scribe the fold line.

A pair of Avon Ra7's at 7,300 lbs of thrust each might be appropriate.  Time scale is right, and the Avon is smaller and lighter too!

Nice idea, nay, great idea, but a fuselage and intake expansion of that scale is too much for my skills. I'm 69 years old, how much time do you think I have left? ;D ;D :

Put a single Avon in it and call it a Hunter - after all, a white-painted Hunter masqueraded as a Skyrocket in The Right Stuff.
