Funnily enough, some of the earliest schemes for what became the Canberra actually WERE single-engined, having a massive (and probably unbuildable) centrifugal turbojet in the rear fuselage.

I have read (on the French Wikipédia page I think) that the Canberra jet mounting was inspired bu the Meteor. Uh, was there more links between those 2 programs?
After deep investigation in secret archives (last night while I was sleeping), I have found there was a major program of Canberra with Meteor wings, and my pacifist spirit likes that! <_<
