Technically, I was thinking that your new version makes it easier to fit a landing gear. Many airplanes look awkward on the ground, though.

Birds, too, must sometimes "land". Some do it all the time, others more rarely. Some birds travel far without touching ground or water, but eventually they arrive and land. The common swift ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_swift ) is a strange one. It usually doesn't land anywhere except for hatching. It can be in really bad trouble if it ever lands on the ground. The legs are so small that it cannot take off from a flat place.
