 so, what else could it be? A radial lightning? A big winged lightning? A twinned Thunderbolt? Mostly a lightning but with thunderbolt fuselages as booms? A 4 engines frankenplane?

I keep seeing a P-38 Lightning with bloody-great Pratt & Whitney R-2800's at the pointy end of the nacelles & a pair of slim-line Allison V-1710 powered P-47's. ;D ;D ;D

P-38: Wing-root radiators for cooling the oil would deal with the depth of the cowling & the Allisons already had turbo-superchargers (different to those of the P-47, but that could be fixed easily enough) in the nacelles, so that would just require some re-plumbing between the engines & the turbo's. You might need cheek intakes to supply cold air to the turbo's, although that could be sourced from around/behind the engine(s) within the cowling.

P-47: Biggest issue is the turbo-supercharger plumbing, if that could be sorted to prevent the pregnant guppy look associated with RW inline-engined P-47's you'd be on a winner! ;D

That was strange ..i didnt get a single msg saying anything about replies to this post..so im gonna do that now .
Thank ya Fred mate  ;D...i kinda like it myself now
Righto oh then chaps ..the P47s of doom
This is what i have in mind ..take 2 P47 M Thunderbolts with the combat horse power of 2600HP and then take one of my beloved P38 Lightings and combine to build the ultimate P38.
Im going to take the entire P47s fuselages with one wing and one horizontal stabilizer from each plane ..one left ..one right and in the middle a P38 cockpit .
The landing gear will remain the same except the rear landing will use twin P47 wheels in bespoke landing gear bays with custom made struts .
I'll use the P38s horizontal stabilizer which will take as much work to join as will the cockpit section to the P47s fuselages...the cockpits in the P47s will be deleted .
As for armaments even if i didnt wiffy it one bit it would still have 1 20mm cannon and 12 .50cals and still retain the ability to carry 4000lbs of bombs or rockets and bombs  ..the max bomb load is increased to 4000lbs by the simple fact this plane now has more than 2 times the HP of the original P38 .
Thats idea guys  ;D

Have you seen zerosen's P-47Z (of 2011) at https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=18606.105 posted again today? ;)

I know I'm really late to the party here, but this is just too cool not to say anything. I really enjoyed looking at this one - I wish I had an imagination big enough like that to marry together an F16 to a B58.
I really need to start paying more attention to the works that happen here in this forum
Great idea Wardukw and extremely well executed

Wardukw

Well thank ya Hatter mate  ;D...its definitely thr sleakest plane ive ever made ..the next wont be ..just raw power and old  <_< or its going to be a WW1 Spad float plane
