NARSES2

Probably best to go direct to them Alistair. I can't remember where I got mine from. It was either a show, unlikely, or in Airfix Magazine ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

You don't HAVE to paint it LMS Crimson Lake, this is WhiffWorld, remember, and maybe the LMS DIDN'T take over the Caledonian after all?

I agree with Kit.   Paint it however you like!    I seem to remember that in 1948, the newly established BR did experiment with several possible colours for their express engines. The BTC published a series of Temporary Painting Schedules for its inherited motive power in late 1948 covering these experimental liveries.   They eventually settled on Brunswick Green, but Cally Blue was another contender.

Potentially a rather subtle Whiff......the BR "lion on a unicycle" motif, "BRITISH RAILWAYS"  lettering ,  and Caledonian Blue livery with (according to the BTC 1948 document)red, cream and grey lining  and ALL justifiable by reference to British Transport Commission official specifications!

Oh that is very usful and would work out well on something like "Evening Star" or "Biggin Hill" kits that I have, maybe RAF Blue for the "Biggin Hill" though  ;D

or be bl**dy minded and paint it brown....  Crimson lake ( due to it being a lake) will change colour with UV exposure, the ( manganese compound if i remember correctly) end is not crimson
and I'm not going down that rabbit hole with my Friend who used to QC paint, it more boring than watching paint dry ( which was part of his job)
