It's amazing the way one is influenced by someone who (thinks) they know better.
About 15 years ago, (give or take) I decided to have a go at building a Turbine. I had loads of reference, the TV episodes, and a few photos from Starlog magazines. (I've worked with less, before and since) Well, the guy at the hobbyshop told me that the bike used was a Katana and that was enough for me, so I bought one.
Tamiya 1/12th sc.
As I watched the episodes unfold, I realised I had boo-booed, I'd bought the wrong kit!
Now, the Katana is a BIG bike, right! and has an 'A' frame, where the Turbine had an 'I' frame, so what I was probably looking at was a trail bike!
My logic dictated that seeing the only 'bits' of the bike you were actually going to see were the tyres, I could have used anything from a WLA 45 to a Moped.

Parts used : Basic frame, (modified) handlebars, wheels and tyres.
Gas tank/seat/tail and electrics cover : vacform
Wheels covered and the wings actually swing out and back.
Rider :Tamiya rider modified.

Now there's a blast from the past...

great stuff once again - and again, one of the best things about your modeling (apart from the obvious build quality) is that the subject is waaaay from mainstream! LOVE IT!

hey toad - you wanna ride?

Yowzers....is that ever cool, Lyn !

I see what you mean, tho....you could have used just about any kit ! The bigger 'race' type bikes like a Katana are better, if you ask me....as you get the smaller diameter, fatter tire for the drive, and a larger dia. skinny one for the steering end, giving that racy look !

Great job on the modified figure too...hope Tamiya releases them wee dudes again soon !

Cheers !
