Why not simply change the engines on a Meteor to two Pythons?

Gondor

There was the turbo-prop proposal

Yes, but that had Tynes not Pythons.

That was WELL before the Tyne was developed.

The turbo-prop Meteor was powered by RB 50 Trent engines , which were basically Derwents with a gearbox on the front.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Here's a notion that someone may want to explore, either a Python engined XF8B
or an R-4360 powered Wyvern.

Pratt & Whitney R-4360-10 (Boeing XF8B)
L: 130.75"
D: 52.50"
W: 3,525 lbs.

Armstrong-Siddeley Python (Westland Wyvern)
L: 123.2"
D: 54"
W: 3,450 lbs.
