Closer to the original Escort Cruiser, originally started as a larger hanger on the last Spruance class for additional ASW helicopters for convoy protection, then sort of grew from there to carry bigger airgroup.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I can see it now glued to my fingers.

Neat to see it as a kit.

The below blog post does a pretty brief walk through of the USN approach with some interesting pictures of other options for the design. The Spruance based hull was the budget option. The original thought was mini-carriers. Actually the Spanish Príncipe de Asturias and Thai Navy Chakri Naruebet designs were based in part on some of the Sea Control Ship concepts and designs. Those are closer to what the original USN thoughts were.

It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth.

Interesting insight and a few pictures drawings linked to on that page.
