Mesdames et Messieurs, I present to you le Démon de l'aeronavale. In 1952 the French Navy were introducing the De Havilland Sea Venom into carrier service, renamed as Aquilon. It quickly became obvious that the Aquilon needed a decent radar as well as carrying a good weapons loadout.

The Suez Crisis in 1956 made the point to the French authorities that they needed new and better aircraft for the Aeronavale. As it happened some French pilots had spent time on USN carriers and suggested the new McDonnell F3H Demon that was entering service.
In 1957 the order was placed with McDonnell for 36 Demons to be delivered by 1960. The US was happy to pay most of the costs under the Mutual Development Assistance Program and agreed to host French pilots for training on the new aircraft.

The F3H served France adequately until 1970. By this time the shortcomings of the Demon were obvious and it was decided to withdraw them from service.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Neat   Also a very obvious build with a very believable back story which makes me wonder why it's not been done before?

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I did wonder that myself until late last night. A search late last night for Aeronavale F3H brought me right back to this site and a post from 2014. Spinner did a Demon in a very attractive dark blue scheme.

Congratulations to have written Démon on an English keyboard!
(I could have helped if Dèmon, Dêmon, Dëmon, but no need) ;)
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .
