Having bought the only Airfix Chinook in a smallish model shop in Lowestoft, I decided today that I just had to start building it to see if all the hype that Airfix are putting out about it was true.

Having flown in the real thing on one occasion it just had to be done as the RW 18 Sqdn. Chinook, ZA718 'Bravo November of course.

Here's the essential box lid pic, complete with a tiny 'Atlantic Conveyor' down in the bottom right hand corner, nice one Airfix.

It's moulded in Airfix's current dark grey, slightly matt styrene and is VERY well engineered, as are most of their currently designed mouldings. The various parts fit with a 'click' sometimes, you wonder if it's really a no-glue kit!

So far it's gone together very well, and with a complete interior it needs to be painted as you go, and right now I don't have any paint with me other than primer, so the next step will have to wait till I get home on Wednesday.

Airfix seem to have got the 'the more parts the better' virus from Revell somewhere, as many of the assemblies could have been made with a lot fewer parts, but hey ho, I'm an 'experienced modeller' and I'm used to such foibles now.

Here's the first assembly prior to any interior painting, and there's 17 parts in that one pic, not counting my thumb.............

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Looks like you lucked out on the bulkheads.

Is there meant to be a problem with them? They fitted a treat actually.

Several people have reported, and shown, badly warped bulkheads that are diificult to
straighten and fit.

That does look like a nice molding.  Looking forward to the rest.

The latest addition of the Aifix Club magazine dropped through my letter box late yesterday afternoon and the main piece is about this kit and how they went about the design of it. Interesting read.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
