The Bf-109 Project - High Altitude 109s

Part 3 in the posts on the Messerschmitt Bf-109 series, High ALtitude 109s.
During the life of the 019 various atemps were made to turn it into a high altitude fighter.
Starting with the Bf-109H with longer wings, through the second version of the Me-209 and the very long winged P-1091 designs.
Development was handed over to Blohm & Voss and the High Altitude 109 turned into the BV-155.
During the course of all the development, various designations were used, mainly with the goal of keeping the development going after the RLM had closed down a development permission.

Oh YES! My sort of aeroplane!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Love all the long winged versions 😍
Long is good..longer is better   ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Another great set of builds

You do wonder if some of the longer winged ones would have needed outriggers in order to taxi whilst on the ground ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The  Bv155 had intercom sockets in the wing tips so the ground crew could talk the pilot round bends in the taxiways.
