Lockheed F-35XL 'widow cranky ' with photos

This build has been influenced by the F-16XL, I had a secondhand 'spares or repair ' 1/72
F-16XL single seater. I'm not too sure what's happened to the rest of the parts but I kept the wings.
Although it's not a perfect fit using the 1/72 Airfix Lockheed F-35B as the donor, I have modified it using parts from another Airfix kit.
I know that the manufacturer states that you should wash the parts before you start the assembly but I have done this afterwards and washed the Harrier spares as well.

How close to the ground do those fins on the bottom side get? Hopefully not too close for conventional or very short take-off and landing.

They have the same ground clearance as the pivoting exhaust nozzle.

I've sprayed the build with Humbrol grey acrylic primer, posing with the Harrier Eagle and Harrier Hawk.

The paint scheme is experimental as this was the test aircraft and is displaying all the customers that have bought the model.
It's on the road to getting finished by the end of the month.
